The Rodel Foundation of Delaware: Who We Are

In 1999, Bill, Don, and Susan Budinger, wanting to give back to the community they called home, decided to address what they believed to be the most important issue for our future: preparing students for a 21st century global economy and a more diverse world. The Rodel Foundation of Delaware carries forward that mission today and believes Delaware can create a system of public schools by 2020 that is among the best in the world. This video offers an overview of the Rodel Foundation and the focus of its work.

What is Personalized Learning?

We all know that students have different learning styles and learn at different paces — what works for one student does not necessarily work for the rest of the class. Personalized learning offers a new vision for education: one in which students become the center of the learning environment, using technology to support a more individualized learning experience both inside and outside the classroom.

Spotlight on Delaware Early Learning

Delaware is working to ensure a strong early start for all students. Studies show that attending preschool helps children enter kindergarten ready to learn and leads to long-term educational success, including increased high school graduation rates and college attendance. The impact of early education is particularly strong for children from low-income backgrounds.

What is Common Core?

Delaware educators are working in step with their peers across the country to implement a new set of “Common Core Standards” that will raise and unify the benchmarks for achievement in math and language arts for K-12 public school students throughout the US. See how Delaware teachers and students are applying new strategies and increased rigor to fuel greater student achievement with the help of Common Core Standards.

What is DCAS?

The Delaware Department of Education has modernized its student testing system with an innovative, online form of assessment that allows teachers to get instant feedback on student progress. The new DCAS testing model further enables teachers to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs throughout the school year.
